Special guest: Cine actor Mahesh Babu with the winner of Thums Up’s ‘Atidhi Mahesh Bhava’ offer V.P. Y.K. Prasanna and her family in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. —

VISAKHAPATNAM: “It’s an unforgettable experience in my life. I had never imagined that my Mahesh Babu would even visit our house.

It’s like a dream come true for me,” was the reaction of an excited VPYK Prasanna, a fan of ‘Prince’ Mahesh Babu.

Prasanna, who is doing her MBBS at Andhra Medical College, decided to try her luck with a bottle of Thums Up some months ago. “A couple of months ago,

I got a call from the Thums Up people in Mumbai saying that I was one of the lucky winners of the ‘Athiti Mahesh Bhava’ contest,” she recalled.

“Will Mahesh visit our house”?

“The company people said they were not sure of it. I thought that I would get a CD of one of his films.

Again the company people visited our house before Deepavali and said Mahesh would visit us but were not sure of the date. We were in for a pleasant surprise when they came home this morning (Wednesday) and fixed banners and placards.

The lane behind Sri Kanya Theatre in Railway New Colony was agog with activity in anticipation of the visit of Mahesh Babu.

His convoy arrived at 11.15 a.m. and security personnel and civil police had a tough time in stopping the fans from entering the middle class house to catch a glimpse of the star from close quarters and shake hands with him.

Once inside the house, members of the winner’s family, their relatives and neighbours surrounded him and took turns to have photographs with their icon.

Prasanna gave a small diary to the ‘prince’ and asked him: “Can I meet you again?” She was all smiles as he replied in the affirmative.

As the company people asked the family members to clear the way and allow the star to leave as he had to rush to another programme, an elderly woman said: “We have been waiting for a long time, please don’t take him away so soon.”

Later, addressing the media, Mahesh Babu said that his film ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ was nearing completion.

Though he had offers from Bollywood, he was not taking them up as he was not conversant with Hindi.

He said that he enjoyed being a Telugu hero which was his childhood dream.

Referring to his kid, he said that he would keep him off films till he finished college. He would, however, allow him to choose his career on completion of his education.

Mahesh Babu said that the Thums Up contract gave him a unique opportunity to watch his fans and their families from close quarters and get a first hand experience of their feelings for him.

He posed for photographs with officials and staff of Coca Cola company.
