Maid ‘kills’ mother-in-law

A 35-year-old maid allegedly murdered her mother-in-law while she was asleep in their house at Habeebnagar after Tuesday midnight, the police said. The accused woman, Renuka, was taken into custody. Motive behind the murder is not yet known though disappearance of some gold ornaments the 50-year-old victim, Durgamma, wore led her relatives to believe it could be murder for gain. The police registered a murder case.

Residents of Afzalsgar in Mallepally, the victim and the accused were working as maids.

Boy succumbs to injuries

A first standard student Rohit, 5, who was hit by a motorcycle while playing near his house in Domalguda three days ago, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital.

Lorry runs over girl

An eight-year-old girl Ashwini died when a lorry being reversed by the driver knocked her down at Torrur in Hayathnagar police station area on Tuesday. Ashwini’s mother Mariamma was working in a factory.

She took her daughter to the factory and was busy with her work when the accident occurred.

Techie’s house burgled

Two gold chains and Rs. 30,000 were stolen from an IT professional’s house in Vanasthalipuram Phase-4 on Tuesday night, the police said. The house owner Keerti and his family members were asleep when the theft was committed. The offenders sneaked inside by the staircase from terrace and took away the jewellery and cash from the almirah which was not locked, police said.
