Vehicles sans proper papers must be painted sky blue

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Autorickshaws, share autos and mini-buses in the State plying without proper documents should sport the sky blue colour.

According to a press release from the Transport Department, the State Government had received complaints that many autorickshaws, share autos and mini-buses were plying in the city and other parts of the State without proper documents.

When they were involved in accidents, the passengers were unable to obtain insurance compensation. Hence the decision to give a different colour to them, the press release said.

The vehicles should also bear boards in Tamil and English stating they were not for ‘hire’.

Similarly, private vehicles getting registered should also sport the sky blue colour. The deadline for changing the colour in vehicles without proper documents, will be December 31, the release said.
