Pankaj Chandra is Director of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore
Pankaj Chandra BANGALORE: Pankaj Chandra, who took charge as the Director of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, recently has said that he wishes to place IIM-B at the top of the best management schools globally and contribute to the development of the country. At a press conference here on Thursday, Prof. Chandra said that creating a world class research agenda, fostering a diverse environment and improving the quality of teaching were on the top of his list. Prof. Chandra has worked at IIM-Ahmedabad and several universities, including McGill University, Montreal, University of Geneva, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, International University of Japan, and Renmin University, Beijing. While talking about the public policy programme offered at IIM-B, he said that he would strive to make IIM-B central to any policy-based public debate taking place in the country. “Policies, so far, have been Delhi-centric. I hope to use the intellectual energy available in this region to help the cause,” he added. Prof. Chandra said that he would look at building bridges between IIM-B and other institutes of higher learning, especially in Bangalore.
