State’s complicity in irregularities alleged No action against guilty despite CAG pulling it up Kakinada: A delegation of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will submit a memorandum to Governor ND Tiwari on December 9 which is International Anti-Corruption Day, seeking appropriate action as per the Constitution against the State Government for its alleged complicity in financial irregularities. ``The Government has become so irresponsible that it did not rectify the lapses and take penal action against the guilty despite being pulled up by the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) for its alleged inaction in respect of the corruption charges”, said TDP Politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. Addressing a press conference at the district party office here on Thursday, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said reports of the CAG, Lok Ayukta, former vigilance commissioner RC Samal and the media had amply proved the Government’s intention to benefit the contractors and ruling party leaders but no action had so far been taken against the culprits who virtually minted money by bagging projects and valuable lands in the name of development. The CAG pointed out that Rs 539 crores was swindled in six major irrigation projects, Rs 359 crores in Yellampalli project alone, by increasing the estimates and siphoning off funds in various other means. As the TDP’s repeated pleas for penal action fell on deaf ears, it decided to ask the Governor to impose restraint on the Government. The TDP would be staging protest demonstrations in all the districts on Friday (December 7) to throw light on the State Government’s corrupt deals and expose its hollow claims on good governance and people’s welfare, he said. Crop-wise agitations would also be taken up, for instance, to press for MSP for coconuts and sugarcane in East and West Godavari districts. Support priceAs regards the Minimum Support Price for 14 varieties of crops, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said the constituents of the United National Progressive Alliance were preparing a plan of action to make the Central Government concede farmers’ demands. The `Rythu garjana’ organised at Vijayawada recently evoked tremendous response and similar conclaves of the farmers would be soon held Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Mr. Ramakrishnudu alleged that proper plan allocations had not been made for agriculture in the 11th Five Year Plan. The Planning Commission envisaged 4 per cent growth in the farm sector but no proper mechanism had been put in place to achieve the goals. TDP leaders Jyotula Nehru, Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, B Bhaskar Rama Rao and G Rambabu were present.
