Many leaders will join BSP, says Sindhia

Staff Correspondent

BSP convention to be held on December 23

P.G.R. Sindhia to formally join the BSP at the convention

It will be attended by Uttar Pradesh

Chief Minister Mayawati

Molakalmur: There will be a polarisation in the State’s politics after the conclusion of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) convention scheduled on December 23 in Bangalore, according to the former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia.

Speaking to pressperson after participating in the district-level BSP convention here on Thursday, he said that the party expected several leaders of various political parties to join the BSP after the convention. The convention would be attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.

Mr. Sindhia, who will formally join the BSP during the convention, said that the State was facing immense political uncertainty. “This is not the appropriate time to disclose the names of the leaders who are expected to join the BSP. The picture will become clear after the convention,” he said.

He accused Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda of ruining the party in the State. “Mr. Deve Gowda believes only in family politics, and his self-centred nature has tarnished the image of the JD(S). The party has lost its secular credentials, which has resulted in many senior leaders distancing themselves from the JD(S),” he said. Asked whether the BSP would contest polls on its own or in alliance with some other party, he said that the decision was left to the high command. “The party will ensure that prominence is given to women and youth while issuing tickets for the polls,” he said. Over five lakh people were expected to attend the convention, he said.

State BSP president B. Gopal and general secretary M. Jayanna were present.
