Chitradurga: The State-level Congress Janandolan rally, scheduled to begin from Chitradurga on Friday, will bring about political changes in State, district Congress president R. Manjunath has said. Addressing pressperson here on Thursday, he said that the party would highlight the “misdeeds” of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal (Secular) through the rally. No majorityHe said that after the 2004 election, when no party secured a majority, the Congress joined hands with the JD(S) only to keep the communal forces at bay. But the JD(S) broke its alliance with the Congress and formed a government with the BJP. “But when the time came to transfer power, the JD(S) betrayed the BJP. This shows that the JD(S) only wants to remain in power no matter at what cost,” he said. BurdenHe alleged that owing to egocentric politics of the BJP and the JD(S), the State had to face mid-term polls, which was an extra burden on the State exchequer. “The Congress will highlight all these aspects in the rally and urge people to give a clear mandate to the party to ensure a stable government,” he said. He said that senior leaders of the party such as the former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge, the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah D.K. Shivakumar, MLA, and several other leaders were expected to participate in the rally. District general secretary B.G. Srinivas was present at the occasion.
