‘Black day’ in twin cities

HUBLI: Both “Vijayotsav” and “black day” were observed in Hubli and Dharwad on Thursday, which marked the 15th year of the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.

While Muslims and progressive organisations observed a “black day”, Hindutva organisations celebrated it as “Vijayotsav”. In Hubli, several people under the aegis of the Indian Union Muslim League and Association of Scrap Dealers, Hubli, closed their shops.

They submitted a memorandum addressed to the President condemning the incident. In Hubli and Dharwad, members of the Rashtriya Hindu Sena and other Hindutva organisations observed “Vijayotsav” by bursting firecrackers.
