Leaders pay tribute to Ambedkar

PUDUCHERRY: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Thursday led the people of the Union Territory in paying homage to B.R Ambedkar on his 51st death anniversary.

Shortly after garlanding a statue in front of the Assembly complex, he inspected the memorial being constructed for the leader on Goubert Avenue.

Mr. Rangasamy paid homage to Ambedkar’s portrait at the Pradesh Congress Committee office.

Congress leaders offered floral tributes to the portrait.

Speaker R. Radhakrishnan, Health Minister E. Valsaraj, Education Minister M.O.H.F Shahjahan and Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy garlanded the statue of Ambedkar.

Leaders of the Puducherry Munnetra Congress, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Communist Party of India and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi offered floral tributes.

Members of various Dalit organisations organised functions to mark occasion.
