Krishnagiri: Over 400 activists of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) courted arrest on Wednesday when they tried to take out a rally and stage a demonstration on the occasion of the anniversary of demolition of Babri masjid.

The members demanded that the Centre handover the site to Muslims and initiate action against those who were responsible for demolition of the structure.
They demanded the implementation of the Sri Krishna Commission report and tried to move towards the court buildings on Rayakottai Road.
Released
However, the police blocked them and arrested the activists. The cadres were later released in the evening.
Barring a few demonstrations, the anniversary day passed off peacefully in the district.
State leader of TMMK, Tamiya, led the protest. TMMK cadres also staged similar demonstrations in Dharmapuri district.
