Bar coded billing system to be introduced SE says many Government offices do not pay dues on time Sangareddy: The low voltage pockets of Medak district would have quality power supply by March of the New Year with the Transco planning to install forty six 33 KV, five 132 KV and three 220 KV sub stations. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday the Superintending engineer Y. Narender Reddy who took over charge recently announced that tackling the voltage issue is high on his priority list. He said that the problem of tripping of motors during the crucial Kharif period would become history once the new substations are in place. The new 220 KV stations are coming up in Potharam, Chegunta and Sadasivapet while the 132 KV stations would be established in Ramayampet, Shankarampet, Tunikibollaram, Singur and Borpatla. Pilot projectExpressing concern over the human induced error in the collection of power bills in the municipal areas, Narender Reddy said that the Transco has decided to introduce a pilot project of bar coded billing system. He said that the bill collector either from the out sourcing agency or of the Transco would have to affix the bar code on the meter to take reading. The bill collector’s position at the time of taking the reading could also be traced once the data is fed to the computer. This would reduce the connivance of bill collectors with the customers, he said. He announced that initially the bar code method would be introduced in Hyderabad, followed by Ranga Reddy and Medak districts. Pointing out the reasons for deficit of Rs. 1.71 crore in revenue collections for the month of November the SE said that he would concentrate on filling the gap by strengthening the collection process. He said that many of the government offices including the revenue offices, government residential quarters, Welfare hostels, Hospitals and municipalities do not pay dues in time. He announced that the list of such defaulters would be published periodically till they pay for what they consume.
