Squash
CHENNAI: Raja Randhir Singh, the Secretary-General, Indian Olympic Association and IOC delegate in India, has said that squash will soon be a sport in the Olympic Games. “The world squash President, Jehangir Khan and I have been doing our best to win votes for squash’s inclusion. But it has not happened yet. But it will. If squash can be a sport in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, surely it will be in the Olympics. “We are working towards that,” he said while speaking after inaugurating the World men’s team squash championship on Wednesday night. Mr. Randhir Singh also praised the efforts of Squash Rackets Federation of India, N. Ramachandran and his team for setting up “such a wonderful facility” referring to the ICL Academy and the courts. “I have decided to send a team of Delhi Development Authority experts to Chennai to study the features of the facility before constructing one there for the Commonwealth Games,” he said. — Special Correspondent
