Two die as tree branch falls on cab

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Two persons died on the spot and one was injured when a branch of a banyan tree fell on a maxi cab at Somvarpet in Chamarajanagar taluk on Thursday.

The maxi cab was proceeding towards the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee yard here from Gopichettipalyam.

The dead have been identified as Mahesh (35), a resident of Chikkahole, and Velu, a resident of Gopichettipalyam in Tamil Nadu.

The injured has been identified as Tangavelu of V.C. Chatra in Chamarajangar taluk.

He is being treated in a hospital.

Traffic was disrupted for nearly two hours on the national highway 209.

The police have registered a case.
