Hubli-Dharwad
HUBLI: Various organisations and government departments across the district, including the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC), observed the “51st Mahaparinirvana Dina” of B.R. Ambedkar on Thursday. For most of the organisations and departments, the 51st death anniversary of Ambedkar was restricted to garlanding his statue or offering floral tributes. However, some chose to observe his death anniversary through lectures on his life and ideology. In Hubli, HDMC Commissioner Ajay Nagabhushan garlanded the Ambedkar statue near the Head Post Office, while the HDMC superintending engineer M. Narayana garlanded the Ambedkar statue on the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) premises. Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) activists organised “Sodarateyedege bahujanara nadige”, a walk symbolising brotherhood. The march concluded at the Ambedkar statue near the Head Post Office.
