Bilaspur to be given the status of a sub-division Plans to appoint Urdu teachers in schools CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday announced his Government’s decision to more than double the financial assistance admissible to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes to prepare for various competitive and entrance examinations from Rs.3,000 to Rs.8,000 and from Rs.4,000 to Rs.10,000, respectively. Addressing a gathering on the death anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar at Bilaspur in Yamunanagar district, he also announced that Bilaspur would be given the status of a sub-division. He also announced plans to appoint Urdu teachers in schools where the number of students desirous of learning the language was more than 10. He said the Haryana Scheduled Castes and Finance Development Corporation would provide financial assistance of Rs.87.65 crore to 17,000 beneficiaries during the current financial year to enable them take up their own income generating activities. Similarly, the Haryana Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam would provide assistance of Rs.47.50 crore to 7,250 beneficiaries . He said the State Government had introduced the “Dr. Ambedkar Meritorious Scheme” to give scholarships to outstanding students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. The Government had also decided to pay the fees of Scheduled Caste students. . Meanwhile, inaugurating the new building of the Sub-Tehsil of Sadhaura, Mr. Hooda disclosed that the Government had collected revenue totalling Rs.1,052 crore so far during the current financial year . Chautala’s callMeanwhile, addressing a “Dalit Chetna Rally” at Hisar, former Chief Minister and INLD president Om Parkash Chautala called upon the poor, the working class, the depressed classes and farmers to wage a united struggle against the Congress.
