The train will leave Mangalore at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday Governor, MPs, MLAs to attend the inaugural function MANGALORE: South Western Railway has started booking tickets for the train to be flagged off to Bangalore from here on Saturday. As a result, more than 300 people will get the opportunity to have berths in the first train besides about 500 people to travel with unreserved tickets. ScheduleLalu Prasad, Minister for Railways, will flag off the train, 6518A, that will leave here at 1.30 p.m. on December 8. In all, 333 berths, including 265 in sleeper class, 38 in 3-tier air-conditioned coach, and 30 in 2-tier air-conditioned coach, were available for booking at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Southern Railway officials said the regular train between Mangalore and Bangalore will have one AC 2-tier coach, one Ac 3-tier coach, six sleeper class and six general second class coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake vans. An official press release from the Palakkad division of the Southern Railway said that Governor Rameshwar Thakur will be the Chief Guest at the launch ceremony. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Oscar Fernandes, MP Janardhana Poojary, MP and president of State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party D.V. Sadananda Gowda, MP Tejaswini, former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, MLAs Blasius D’Souza, Ganesh Karnik and Shobha Karandlaje and president of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Sucharita Shetty would participate in the inaugural function.
