School student drowns

TAMBARAM: A 15-year-old boy drowned while playing in the sea off the Palavakkam coast on Wednesday.
Neelankarai police identified the victim as H.Vimalraj, a Standard IX student at a government school in Tondiarpet.
Son of Henry Paul and Kumari, he had come to a church in Palavakkam on Wednesday evening. The family lived in Tondiarpet.
After prayers, Vimalraj and a group moved towards the shore. When Kumari got ready to go home, she was unable to locate her son. Her friends told her that Vimalraj might have gone home with a group. Kumari panicked when she could not find her son at home and lodged a police complaint . Meanwhile, the boy’s body was washed ashore in Panaiyurkuppam.
