VRS &YRN College win

VIJAYAWADA: Chirala’s VRS & YRN College emerged victorious in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate (inter-zonal) cricket tournament defeating Guntur’s JKC College by seven runs in the final here on Thursday.

The scores: VRS &YRN 153 in 33 3 overs (Ch.V. Narayana four for 24, V. Nagaeswara Rao three for 41) bt JKC 146 in 36.4 overs (G. Naveen Kumar five for 29).

Match drawn

At Guntur, South Zone ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams garnered two points each in the drawn ties against North ‘B’ and North ‘A’ respectively by virtue of the first innings lead in the ACA under-13 inter-zonal cricket tournament on Thursday.

The scores: South ‘A’ 260 and 157 for five in 38 overs (D. Naren Reddy 59, Tejeswara Rao 48) drew with North ‘B’ 248 in 71 overs (Antony Khan 58, R. Suresh 40, Siddhartha Reddy three for 67, Vinil Kumar three for 54).

South ‘B’ 361 and 151 for four in 39 overs (Ashwin Heber 66 not out, Jayavardhan 59, Sashikanth three for 23) drew with North ‘A’ 188 in 66.3 overs (B. Shyam Sundar 74, Salim Baig five for 45).

Spirit Guys posts win

Machilipatnam’s Spirit Guys scored a 23-run victory over Venky CC in the KDCA ‘B’ division league cricket tournament for the Devineni Venkataramana-Praneetha Memorial Trophy here on Thursday.

The scores: PVPSIT 69 in 24.2 overs lost to KBN College 70 for four in 12 overs; Spirit Guys 119 in 30.5 overs (Praveen three for 24) bt Venky CC 99 in 28.1 overs (Nagaraju five for 17, Gandhi three for 11); Blue Stars 120 in 34.2 overs (Siddiq 56, Narasimha Rao three for 20) lost to VS XI 121 for three for 20.2 overs (Varma 45).

SCS on top

Kanumolu’s SCS Junior College won the overall championship in the Krishna District Junior Colleges’ games and sports meet at the Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala here on Thursday. N. Kanaka Mahalakshmi (SCSJC) won the individual championship for finishing first in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100 relay and long jump events.
