Chowrasia tied 7th

Bangkok: India’s S.S.P. Chowrasia turned in a three-under 69 for a share of the seventh spot, while Shiv Kapur and Rahil Gangjee returned identical cards of two-under 70 to be tied 11th after the opening round of the $750,000 Volvo Masters of Asia golf here on Thursday.

Gaurav Ghei, however, struggled, carding a horrendous three-over 75 to be 48th.

Chowrasia ank in birdies on the first, second and seventh holes to complete a flawless front nine and make the turn three-under. In his backward journey, Chowrasia parred the first seven holes before striking a birdie on the 17th. Australia’s Scott Strange grabbed thelead with a seven-under 65. — PTI
