Indian women powerlifters shine
New Delhi: Indian women had a fruitful opening day at the Commonwealth powerlifting championship, grabbing eight medals, including five golds at Christchurch, New Zealand, on Thursday.
Pooja Kadam (52kg), Sneha Varute (82.5 kg) and Vasudha (+90kg) claimed gold in the sub-junior category, Mala Sukhwal (52kg) and Jennis Joseph (67.5kg) emerged champions in the junior section.
Ratna Mani took silver in the masters category, while Deepali Kulkarni (90kg) and Shuma (+90kg) also grabbed silver in seniors’ category. — PTI
