Hyderabad: Next time you browse the Net seeking out the best hospitality deals, you may not have actually made a discerning choice by hitting several websites. Chances are you would only have hit half-a-dozen of thousands of mirror sites in cyber space that interact seamlessly and with giga-speeds.
In the order that you browse the websites, each one would have tipped off the other as to your preferences profile and the price quoted, asking the next site to quote lesser. Taking the cue, the other sites quote lesser and if people think they deserve a pat, forget it. In reality, they end up agreeing to pay far more than the actuals charged by the service provider - in this case, the hoteliers. The warning came from Mr. Prasad. “About 50 p.c. of websites claiming to offer reliable information really mislead the consumer,” he said.
