Man, child die of burns

Coimbatore: A construction worker Senthilkumar (30) and his 10-year old child Lokesh who sustained burns died at the Coimbatore Medical College hospital on Thursday.

Senthilkumar’s wife Muthukumari (23) and another person Ramaiah (75) who sustained burns are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police suspect that Senthilkumar who had a quarrel with his wife suspecting her fidelity is said to have doused kerosene on his wife and child and set them ablaze in a fit of rage at their house in Thillai Nagar in Rathinapuri.

In the process, Senthilkumar also sustained serious burns while Ramiah who tried to rescue Muthukumari he too sustained burns. Muthukumari is said to be in a serious condition and six months pregnant. The couple after a brief separation reunited only recentlyPolice have registered a case and further investigations are on.
