BANGALORE: A Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader was seriously injured after two men attacked him in Vidyaranyapura police station limits early on Thursday. The police said that around 5.45 a.m. Lakshminarasimhaiah (60), a resident of Doddabommasandra, was on his way to attend the daily RSS “shaka” at government school grounds in Ramachandrapura. Two men, riding a motorcycle, attacked Lakshminarasimhaiah with a steel pipe and cricket stumps and sped away. They had covered the number plate of the vehicle by pasting a paper on it, the police said. The injured RSS leader had been admitted to hospital. The Vidyaranyapura police, who have registered a case, said they were yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack. RobbedA man diverted the attention of a car driver and made away with a bag containing Rs. 2 lakh cash in Tilaknagar police station limits on Thursday afternoon. The police said that around 12.30 p.m. Krishnappa, personal assistant of a former minister from Hassan district, came to the Sub-Registrar’s office in IVth Block, Jayanagar, in his new car. After he went to the Sub-Registrar’s office, his driver Ranganath was sitting in the vehicle. A youth accosted the driver and told him that fuel was leaking from the car. When Ranganath got down and was examining the fuel tank, the youth made away with the cash bag from the car and sped away on a motorcycle, the police said.
