CBI inquiry sought

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran has demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) land deal at Ponmudi.

Inaugurating the Ambedkar Day observance organised by the Kerala Dalit Federation here on Thursday, Mr. Sudheeran said only a CBI inquiry would bring out the truth behind the controversy over the deal struck by ISRO for purchasing the land from an individual for setting up the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) at Ponmudi. The government, in its attempt to protect someone, wasted an opportunity to expose the truth.

The ISRO officials’ reluctance to accept a particular plot for setting up the institute exposed their true nature. Their desire to protect an individual ignoring the government offer too had been exposed.
