High Court pulls up ACP for inefficiency

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has pulled up the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Punjabi Bagh) for not recording the statement of the staff of a Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in a case against its Principal for having allegedly passed castetist remarks against a Scheduled Caste employee.

Justice S.N. Dhingra of the Court had asked the police officer to visit the school and record statements of the staff to verify the allegation.

In his report, the ACP informed the Court that he had visited the school but no staff member was present on the campus.

However, the Court on an enquiry found that the police officer had visited the school after working hours.

The Court directed the ACP to visit the school again and record the statements of the staff.

The matter reached the High Court when the Principal filed a petition seeking quashing of the case.

It will come up for further hearing on January 15.
