“It will create fear among anti-socials and help to curb their activities” PUDUCHERRY: Founder of the Puducherry Munnetra Congress P. Kannan said that there was no political enmity between his party and the Congress. He was addressing reporters here on Friday. Mr. Kannan said that his criticism against the government on the law and order situation was “only to point out the mistakes and help the administration to resort to corrective steps.” Grim situationThe recent crude device explosion near the railway station was “only a pointer to the grim law and order situation prevailing in the region,” he said. Reiterating his party’s demand for the introduction of Goondas Act, Mr. Kannan said that the law would certainly “create fear” among anti-socials and help to curb their activities. He cited the recent decision of the Tamil Nadu government to use the provisions of the Act to make preventive arrest of rowdy elements. Alleging that funds allocated for tsunami rehabilitation were not “used properly,” he demanded steps to expedite the process to construct permanent houses for fishermen.
