KASARAGOD: Minister for Agriculture Mullakkara Ratnakaran will inaugurate the Kasaragod district farmers meeting (Karshaka Sangamam-2007) being organised by the agriculture department at municipal town hall here on December 10 at 10 a.m., P. Thirumaleswara Bhat, deputy director of agriculture department, said at a press conference here on Friday. The meeting aims to discuss the problems faced by the agriculture sector in the district and to consider suggestions of farmers on ways to improve the agricultural production. The meeting would also mark the end of a series of adalats held by various Krishi Bhavans in the district aimed at solving various practical problems faced by farmers in the district. Kasaragod MLA C.T. Ahmed Ali would preside over the function. P. Karunakaran, MP, would deliver key-note address. Director of agriculture K.K. Gangadharan would explain about the meeting. MLAs C.H. Kunhambu, K. Kunhiraman, K.V. Kunhiraman, and Pallipram Balan and district panchayat president M.V. Balakrishnan would offer felicitations. Ibra him Barikkad, a coconut farmer from Muliyar who won Kera Kesari award of the State government for 2005-06 would be felicitated.
