BJP to launch ‘rice agitation’

Staff Reporter

Kochi: The BJP will launch a ‘rice agitation’ highlighting the rise in prices of rice and other essential commodities. The party’s State general secretary A.N. Radhakrishnan said at a press conference here on Friday that the agitation would be launched on December 10. The party was planning to take up the issue strongly.

Alleging that human rights violations were on the rise in Kerala and West Bengal, he said the party would organise a dharna in front of Parliament on December 10. BJP State president P.K. Krishnadas would lead the activists from Kerala.

Mr. Radhakrishnan alleged that the distribution of ‘appam’ and ‘aravana’ at Sabarimala was in a mess due to the interference of two of the main constituents of the LDF. The Devaswom Minister had failed to resolve the issue that caused much difficulty to devotees, he said. The party would take out a march to the Minister’s office-cum-residence in Alappuzha on December 17.
