CHENNAI: Gemini TRAZE Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chennai-based Gemini Communication, has been working on sensor enabled tags that record temperature, pressure and detect motion. The company has already completed the development of packaged RFID (radio frequency identification) tags that work on metals and other EMI (electromagnetic interference) prone materials. Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Pradhyumna T. Venkat, CEO of the company, said the company has successfully completed over 300 installations worldwide. Mr. Venkat said the growth in RFID enabled applications in the Indian market will come from manufacturing (especially from pharma, apparel and automotive sectors), IT, government departments, public sector enterprises and defence, educational institutions and banking. The company was working towards becoming an accepted market leader in the global RFID product space. The company has its tag manufacturing facility in Tirumazhisai, on the outskirts of Chennai, with a capacity to produce 100 million tags annually.
