National ocean sailing in Kochi

KOCHI: Kochi will host the Ocean Blue National ocean sailing championship, a long distance race, from January 13, 2008.

The race, which starts in the city and then touches Lakshadweep Islands before returning to Kochi, will be organised by the Offshore Sailing Association of India which comes under the Yachting Association of India umbrella. The eventwill be flagged off by Vice-Admiral S.K. Damle, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, on January 13 and the yachts will sail to Lakshadweep. The race will end in Kochi on January 23, 2008. — Principal Correspondent
