THODUPUZHA: Under-13 international Nithin Pereira scored two goals in a three-minute spell as Thiruvananthapuram defeated Pathanamthitta 3-1 and marched into the final of the third Kerala State under-14 football championship at the St. George School Ground, Muthalakudam, near here, on Friday evening. All the goals came in the second session. V.S. Nandu fought past two defenders and found the net from the top of the box to give Thiruvananthapuram the lead in the 46th minute. A little later, Nithin scored in the 62nd and 65th minutes. Bhavin netted Pathanamthitta’s consolation goal in the 68th minute in the 70-minute match. Thiruvananthapuram, mainly made up of boys from the G.V. Raja Sports School, St. Joseph’s and Jyothi Nilayam schools, will meet the winner of Saturday’s Ernakulam-Kozhikode semifinal, in Sunday’s final.
