Life sentence for six persons

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Virudhunagar Principal District and Sessions Court on Friday awarded life sentence to six persons involved in the murder of a farmer, Chinna Periyiah, in 2003.

The prosecution said that the Nandankulam village assistant, Pandi, along with a gang, had murdered the farmer due to enmity in April 2003. When the case came up for hearing, the Judge, V. Balasundarakumar, sentenced six of the gang members to life imprisonment and awarded a fine of Rs.1,000 each. Two others got two-year imprisonment and five others one year jail.
