Don’t clear power bills, sarpanches told
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: Andhra Pradesh State Panchayat Raj Chamber has asked sarpanches not to clear power bills and launch protests, if necessary, at every sub-station. He has asked them to send notices to APTransco as per the A.P. Pachayat Raj Act – 1984 for payment business licence tax, encroachment fee, house tax etc if the officials disconnected supply to minor panchayats.
At a press conference here on Friday, chamber chairman M. Appala Naidu had taken objection to diversion of 12th Finance Commission grants to APTransco towards adjustment of power bill arrears of panchayats.
The chamber chairman said the present government had stopped supplying free power to 20,611 minor panchayats.
