J.N. Dixit ordered LTTE chief’s killing: former IPKF chief

NEW DELHI: A former Army officer, who headed the peacekeeping force in Sri Lanka, has claimed that the then Indian High Commissioner to Colombo, J.N. Dixit, had asked him in 1987 to eliminate LTTE chief V. Prabakaran when he came for a flag meeting with the force.

Major General (retd.) Harkirat Singh claimed he refused on the ground that he could not commit such an act during flag meetings. He said Dixit called him over phone on September 15, 1987, and asked him to kill Mr. Prabakaran during the meeting. — PTI
