Presidency gets the better of Gymkhana

Chennai: Presidency club beat Madras Gymkhana Club 3-2 in the Karlsburg Presidency Chennai clubs tennis tournament on Friday. Madras Gymkhana Club beat Gandhi Nagar Club 3-2, while Cosmopolitan Club beat Madras Club 3-2.

The results: Presidency Club bt Madras Gymkhana Club 3-2 (Jaskaran & Manu Verghese bt Anand Mohan & Kiran Raj 8-5, Manav Jain & Ankur bt S. Selvam & A.G. Krishnan 8-2, Arun Suresh & Ajay Khanna lost to Verghese Kuruvilla & Assiem Mittal 4-8, Vivek & Ragavram lost to Murali Padmanabhan & M.P. Shankar 4-8, K. Shivaram Selvakumar & S.P. Rajendran bt Amrit & Anush 8-6).

Athletics meet

The Ace Athletics Club will conduct the Kiddies athletics meet 2008, on January 29 2008, at the ICF Stadium. The meet is open to all schools and individuals from Chennai and its surrounding areas.

Events will take place in the under-12, 10 and 8 categories.

Football matches cancelled

Due to wet ground conditions, the CFA senior division league matches between ICF and SBI and Nethaji and RBI, scheduled for Friday, were cancelled.

TNCA matches postponed

The TNCA league cricket matches scheduled for Saturday have been postponed due to poor ground conditions.

Corporate cricket from Dec. 15

The Twenty20 corporate cricket tournament, conducted by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Veterans’ Association, will commence at the D.B. Jain College ground from December 15.

The eighteen teams which will figure in the tournament have been divided into three zones.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the super-league, which will be followed by the final.

The teams:

Zone A: Ajuba, HCL, 3-I Infotek, Cognizant, Limra T&T and Sutherland.

Zone B: HSBC, Cholamandalam, Hindustan Lever, C.H. Robinson, Amedia Consultants and Deccan Devils.

Zone C: Ashok Leyland, Covansys, Allzone Mgmt. Sol, Universal Relocation, Vauman and Hewlett Packard.
