Set up department for city development: FRAT

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Federation of Residents’ Associations, Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT), has urged the government to set up a department headed by a Minister for the development of the city and the district.

In a press note issued on the eve of the district-wide campaign to champion the development of the region, T.K. Bhaskara Panikker, president of FRAT, and Paraniyam Devakumar, general secretary, alleged that certain vested interests were torpedoing city development projects. They called on the State and Union governments to announce a special package for the city.
