Concept of neighbourhood schools mooted

HYDERABAD: Shantha Sinha, Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights said it was time for trying out the concept of neighbourhood schools that have egalitarian outlook ensuring easy access to all children without any discrimination.

Speaking at the national conference on ‘Neighbourhood schools- a common schooling concept’, organised by Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, Dr. Sinha said the concept that emerged from Kothari Commission’s recommendations on common schooling had much more relevance now with mushrooming of private schools whose sole intention appeared to be profit.
