Cites case of Afzal Guru Security agencies demoralised JAIPUR: BJP president Rajnath Singh on Saturday charged the United Progressive Alliance government with being lenient to terrorists and attributed it to the policy of Muslim ‘appeasement.’ He was addressing a public rally held here to mark the completion of four years of the BJP government in Rajasthan. “Take the case of Afzal (Guru). The High Court and the Supreme Court sentenced him to death but he is still alive. The government did not hang him. Afraid to annoy“Action is not taken against terrorists for fear of annoying Muslims. However this poorly reflects on what the Congress thinks of Muslims of this country,” he said. During the tenure of the National Democratic Alliance government too there had been major terrorist acts such as attacks on Parliament House and Akshardham temple. “However the morale of the security agencies had never been hit as now,” he said. The BJP chief termed the Congress as the “most communal party” in the country and felt that the terrorists should be dealt with sternly without considering their religion. “Terrorists have no religion,” he said. Taslima issueMr. Singh appreciated Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for giving refuge to Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen here last month. “The Rajasthan government did not bother whether she was a Hindu or a Muslim. There are three crore Bangladeshi intruders living in this country but when it came to giving shelter to a learned writer the Centre did not care.” “The BJP believes that politics should not come in the way of ensuring freedom of expression,” he said.
