Mirwaiz for British intervention in Kashmir
Shujaat Bukhari
SRINAGAR: Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has sought the intervention of Britain in resolving the Kashmir issue.
As the dispute was the “legacy” of the Partition brokered by Britain that country should play a major role in settling it, the Mirwaiz said.
The Mirwaiz, who returned from London after attending an international conference, told a gathering here that it was the moral responsibility of Britain to intervene as they were the ones who left Kashmir unresolved in 1947.
He said that the conference, organised by the pro-Pakistan Kashmir Centre, was very productive and many members of the British Parliament showed a keen interest in solving the problems engulfing Kashmir.
