Karunuday wins

GURGAON: Karunuday Singh won the ITF Junior Grade IV tennis tournament beating Mathew Thomson of Britain 6-1, 7-6(11) in the boys’ final here on Saturday.

In the girls’ section, Tanvi Shah’s run came to a halt when the second seeded Angelika Aliev of Israel beat the Indian 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. The results: Finals: Boys: Karunuday Singh bt Mathew Thomson (Gbr) 6-1, 7-6 (13/11). Girls: Angelika Aliev (Isr) bt Tanvi Shah 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Semifinals: Boys: Karunuday bt James Richardson (Gbr) 6-0, 6-2; Thomson bt Abhijeet Tiwari 6-4, 6-4. Girls: Tanvi bt Sweta Kumari Solanki 7-5, 6-0, Angelika bt Garima Vatwani 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles (final): Boys: Abhijeet Tiwari and Karunuday Singh bt Emanuele Molina (Ita) and Riccardo Sinicropi (Ita) 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Girls: Tanvi and Rashmi Teltumbde bt Ankita Raina and Garima Vatwani 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
