ALAPPUZHA: Violent scenes were witnessed at the Medical College Hospital at Vandanam here on Saturday following the death of a person. According to hospital sources, attendants of Babu, 54, a resident of the Power House ward, went berserk, smashing windows and ransacking duty rooms of house surgeons in the hospital after Babu died around 4 a.m. on Saturday. Babu was admitted to the hospital last night after an alleged suicide attempt by consuming poison. However, when the doctors failed to rescue him, a few persons who had brought him to the hospital allegedly began abusing the doctors and nurses before wreaking havoc in the hospital.
