Loknath was a regular blood donor and was active in promoting blood donation
Guest and the bridegroom of a marriage party donating blood at block colony at Digapahandi in Ganjam district on Friday evening. BERHAMPUR: A newly married couple made their marriage feast memorable by turning it into a blood donation camp at Digapahandi in Ganjam district on Friday evening. It was an occasion to celebrate the marriage of Loknath Panda of block colony of Digaphandi Asha Kiran of Berhampur. Loknath was a regular blood donor and was active in promoting blood donation in the area, said his father Kishore Chandra Panda. The groom, Loknath had also managed to attract his newly married bride, Asha towards this noble cause of blood donation. They decided to donate blood on the day of their marriage feast. Both of them approached the Khemundi voluntary blood donors association to help them out in their unique endeavour. The medical officer of the MKCG medical college blood bank, doctor Bharat Patnaik himself rushed to the marriage feast venue to fulfil the dream of the newly married couple. A blood donation camp was arranged at the venue of the marraige feast. The newly married couple was the first ones to volunteer. But the bride could not fulfil her desire as she was underweight. The groom became the first donor. Enthused by this couple few other couples came forward to donate blood. Dr. Patnaik said this innovative idea of this newly married couple would surely make blood donation a mode to celebrate special occasions among some families.
