HYDERABAD: There is growing demand from the student community to consider post-graduates in various disciplines to work as associates to the Members of Legislative Assembly. The State government recently came out with an action plan to appoint management graduates to assist the MLAs in all the 294 constituencies. The Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced it on a pilot basis in Manthani, Tenali and Atmakur constituencies. These graduates are required to strengthen the office processes, practices of legislators, streamline the grievance handling mechanism and support policy issues of Legislative and House Committee matters to the legislators. Protest stagedStudents pursuing Master of Social Work (MSW) in Osmania University on Saturday called on Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy to make a plea for considering for assistance to the MLAs. The students belonging to Roda Mistry College of Social Work and Research and Post Graduate College, Secunderabad, staged a protest demonstration at Nizam College where the Speaker came to attend the programme. On the directions of the Speaker, the protesters met him at the Assembly. They brought to the notice of the Speaker, the advantage of hiring the social work post-graduates.
