Disciplinary action against 95 UP Govt. employees

Lucknow: Miffed at the slow pace of work, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday ordered disciplinary action against 95 Government officials and employees in Lucknow, Faizabad, Allahabad and Devi Patan for various irregularities.

Holding a review meeting here, she said there had been a slow pace of development and under-utilisation of funds with only Rs 9,626 crore of the budgetary allocation of Rs 28,115 crore spent, showing a “lack of interest” in such works.

The Chief Ministerdirected officials to give speed up and ensure quality of development works and warned them of stern action in case of complaints or misbehaviour with the people’s representatives.

The officials and employees against whom disciplinary action has been ordered area from the Basic Education, Rural Development, Minor Irrigation, PWD, Rural Engineering Services, Power, Panchayati Raj, Social Welfare, irrigation, agriculture, cooperatives, Secondary Education, Revenue, Home and Medical and Family Welfare departments.

Law and order

The Chief Minister also reviewed the law and order machinery and asked the police to solve minor disputes by helping the parties concerned reach an understanding.

Ms. Mayawati told reporters after the meeting that her Government has already recommended a CBI inquiry into the alleged kidnap and murder of a Dalit girl from Faizabad. PTI
