Madhya Pradesh to increase power generating capacity
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Government plans to increase power generating capacity in the State to 8,184 MW during the 11th five-year plan period.
The State has already started work on 1,000 MW capacity Malwa thermal power plant at Khandwa and also on extension units of 500 MW at Sarni thermal power plant, official sources said.
Besides, as part of its long-term strategy, the State Government has also signed MoUs with 11 private sector companies which are willing to establish 12,000 MW capacity merchant thermal power plants in the State. The Government would give priority to allocation of land and water to such companies. PTI
