Baby injected with hot needle
Staff Reporter
Krishnagiri: A three-day old female baby injected with hot needle on its body is battling for life at the Krishnagiri Government Hospital.
According to official sources, Nila (18), wife of Jayaraman (25) of Mudukinaickanapalli near Shoolagiri, gave birth to their second child on Wednesday. The family members allegedly injected hot needle to the baby’s chest, navel and groin.
The parents claimed they resorted to this traditional practice as the baby had difficulty in passing stools and urine.
The baby developed seizures. Acting on instructions from Collector Santhosh Babu, officials from the UNICEF took her to a primary health centre at Shoolagiri.
The baby was later admitted to the intensive care unit of the Krishnagiri hospital.
