Shameem and Nayeem Ajmeri and group from Jaipur will sing Sufi qawwali, while Iran’s Baran Group will light up the occasion with the much sought after Sufiana kalams. The Ruhaniyat festival of Banyan Tree Events that started seven years ago has evolved into one of the most prestigious and much-awaited festivals for the connoisseurs across the country. Festival in MumbaiThe festival opened in Mumbai for two days from November 24 and was a huge success. This being its seventh year, the festival is being held in seven cities making it the biggest all-India Sufi and mystic music festival to be held in the country. The other cities apart from Delhi are Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune. Now in its second year in Delhi, the concept of Ruhaniyat is the brainchild of Mahesh Babu, Director of Banyan Tree Events, a premier cultural organisation committed to preserving and nurturing the rich heritage of traditional and rare Indian performing arts through music and dance festivals of international standards for over a decade. An exotic line-up of mystics from remote villages to internationally acclaimed artists, Ruhaniyat is a confluence of ecstatic performers.
