Chennai: Audiophiles of Chennai, rejoice. If you are looking for the latest audio/video gadgets and have pockets that go deep, the Raja Muthiah Hall in Egmore is the place to head to on Sunday and Monday. Infomedia publishing group’s AV Max Expo audio and video equipment exhibition was inaugurated by music director Harris Jayaraj here on Saturday. Krishna Tewari, Infomedia general manager of publishing, said: “Chennai has a growing number of audiophiles: discerning music lovers who want to experience excellent sound quality. Such people will spend time, effort and money in buying high-end systems.” About 50 international brands are showcased at the expo. Some of the new products include a 70-inch LCD television (priced at Rs.24 lakh) from Samsung, a speaker that’s as sleek as a framed painting from JAMO, wireless speakers from Altec Lansing and universal remote controls from Logitech. Multi-cord binders that can wrap messy wires into a common duct are also available. Aesthetic appealPrashant Narekuli, AV Max business head, said: “People are looking for products that are aesthetically appealing and reduce clutter.” The exhibition has two demonstration halls that allow customers to listen to the equipment in a sound-proof environment. Archana Sanjay, marketing manager of Pro FX, said high-end products from top brands are much sought after. “For the super rich, we have home automation systems that offer one point control of security equipment and multimedia systems in any part of the home,” Ms. Sanjay said. The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
