Drawing contest on Bharathiar

COIMBATORE: The Women’s Club of Bharathiar University conducted on Sunday a drawing competition for school children on the theme “Bharathi Dreams Come True”. The event, for students from Class I to V, was held as part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of poet Subramania Bharathi.

Vice-Chancellor of Avinashilingam University Saroja Prabhakaran inaugurated the event and Registrar of Bharathiar University P. Thirumalvalavan presided.

A release said 109 students from 28 schools in and around Coimbatore participated. The judges were from Chitra Kala Academy and SBOA School. B. Nandhini of Bharathi Matricultation Higher Secondary School won the first prize. A. Krishnalni of Avila Convent and J. Adarsh of SBOA School came second and third respectively.

Prizes will be distributed by Bharathiar University Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam on December 11.
