Andhra Pradesh
It is deplorable that the fruits of Information Technology are not reaching the rural people, more particularly underprivileged sections. The successive governments have failed to take the computers, IT-enabled services to the doorstep of villagers. The government should provide computers to panchayats, community health centres, anganwadis, balvadis, agri-marketing committees, farmers’ cooperative societies, dairy and weavers’ societies. It will help accelerate the services of these organisations. This helps in a balanced development in both rural and urban areas. M. Venu Tiruvuru, Krishna Dist. Disturbing trendNow a days, the caste-based politics have become order of the day. It has become usual practice for some of the politicians to woo voters in the name of caste. It is an unhealthy trend, as most of the youth are becoming prey to this caste-based politics. It is leading to caste polarisation in society. Hence, I request the elderly people of the caste-based organisations not to support the politicians, who were abusing the caste for their vested interests. B.V. Subrahmanya Sastry Bapatla, Guntur Dist. Chiranjeevi should spell out ideologySome of the newspapers and TV channels have carried reports that cine actor Chiranjeevi has plans to enter politics. Some petty politicians and leaders took out rallies welcoming the actor. Though, there is a need for third alternative in the State, but, his entry appears to be based on the caste. I doubt that all these rallies and public meetings have been organised purely with a motto to attract people on the basis of caste. I earnestly, request the veteran actor to chalk out the philosophy and ideology, if he has any plans to launch a new party. S.A. Rehman Kodada Raw deal to minoritiesThere is a speculation that actor Chiranjeevi will launch a political party in coming January. Many newspapers and TV channels highlight many stories about the actor’s possible entry into politics. N.T. Rama Rao launched his own party Telugu Desam Party in 80s and brought a radical change in the State politics. But, pitiably, the fate of minorities remains same whether it was under the Congress or the TDP rule. Both parties were dominated by only two upper castes. There is no guarantee that minorities will develop even if Chiranjeevi were voted to power, as again only one upper caste reap the benefits. I request the honourable leaders to think in this direction. Mehrunnisa Begum
Khammam Sorry state of affairsIt seems sanitary workers in municipalities or corporations are not provided the basic utilities like coconut oil, soaps and uniforms and not to speak the footwear regularly. It is alleged that for years the sanitary workers are put to hardship and inconvenience, as they are denied the basic necessities to attend to their duties. Local bodies have no moral right to continue in office if they fail to pay regular salaries and provide basic requirements to sanitary workers, who keep the streets and city clean. Kavali, Nellore Dist.
